| Complaint: Customer purchased strawberry banana smoothie and took a couple of drinks and found metal pieces in her drink. Response: I went to the facility and asked the person in charge to walk me through the process of creating a smoothie. She opened a new bottle of smoothie mix, removing the metallic seal on the bottle, added ice and blended a smoothie. There seemed to be nothing wrong with the blender, and although there were thumbtacks on bulletin boards above the prep tables, they were far enough away from where the smoothie was being made that it seems very unlikely that a tack would make it into a smoothie. The person in charge seemed aware of the reason for my visit, and told me that the metal bits found in the smoothie were pieces of the metal seal on the smoothie bottle, and it was clear that they were aware of this issue and would take measures to make sure it wouldn't happen again. |
