PIC- Carlos

On 9.26.2018 received complaint: "Customer has seen dog at Walmart riding in shopping carts. Customer is concerned with sanitation of pets inside of carts and cleaning. Per the customer they asked to speak with a manager, but do not feel like they were taken seriously."

At the time of inspection Carlos and the inspector discussed the policy of the facility. Per the manager the facility should only be allowing service or patrol animals in to the facility. He states that while he is unsure if other employees stop dogs that he does stop to ask customers if their animal is a service animal. Per Carlos he intends to bring this up at the next staff meeting and ensure that employees, especially greeters, know the police and are properly screening animals at they enter the facility.

At the time of inspection the inspector did not see any dogs in the facility, but some of the staff stated that they were not aware of a policy that dogs are not allowed inside the store. The facility shall ensure that staff are properly trained and there is not a disconnect regarding policies. As long as the facility is following the policy stated by Carlos then there is not a issue pursuant to OAC 3717-6.4 (O).
