Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During routine inspection licensing reviewed 5 staff files. One staff had a valid CRC from the Abbotsford Police. Upon reviewing emails manager found a CRC from the Criminal Record Bureau.
Corrective Action(s): Manager will print the CRC and add it to the staff's file.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: During routine inspection licensing reviewed 8 children's files and 3 files were missing an MSP number.
Corrective Action(s): Manager will collect the MSP number from the parents and will add it to the children's files.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: During routine inspection licensing reviewed 8 children's files and two were missing an emergency pick up contact.
Corrective Action(s): Manager will collect the information and add it to the children's file.

Comments

At the inspection dated June 07, 2024 there were 8 children, 1 volunteer, 2 staff and the manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified . The licensee is required to address the contraventions, bring the facility into compliance, and provide a written response to Licensing by the date written below. Licensing will review the response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following was discussed:
· Section 19(5) - Volunteer role and responsibilities were discussed with the manager and volunteer.
· While on site licensing observed two resumes in a different language other than English. Licensing mentioned that all documents should be in English for ease of reading.
