Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations

STAFFING: 12070 - CCLR s.19(1)(d) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills. Observation: During an audit of the staff file, it was noted that the staff credentials have not been verfied online through the ECE registry websited Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all ECE/ECEA credentials have been verified Date to be Corrected: 16jul2021 POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment]. Observation: During the audit of the Fire drill records it was noted that no fire drill was recorded for June, with the new manager. Licensing is unable to determine whether a fire drill was practised with the children in care. Corrective Action(s): Please ensure fire drills are practised and recorded monthly Date to be Corrected: 31jul2021

Comments

At the inspection dated July 13, 2021 there were 5 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention were identified. The Licensee/Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. For this inspection the contents of the Facility Inspection Report and Risk Assessment were discussed on site, however were written off site, (time spent .50) and provided to the Licensee/Manager via email. No signatures were captured during today's inspection.
