Facility Name: HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS FINDLAY
Facility Type: Pool
[?] Inspection type: Standard
Inspection date: 14-May-2019
Violations: A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
3701-31-04 (B)(4)(a)(i)
Disinfection residuals were not tested daily at pool side and/or at the required intervals for pools/automatic chemical controllers/special features.
Test the disinfection residual every day before bathers enter the water. Disinfection residual must then be tested every 4 hours when an ACC is not in use. If an ACC is in use the disinfectant residual must be tested every 12 hours while the pool is in use. For spraygrounds and spray features, the disinfectant residual must be tested at 1 spray feature every 6 hours the sprayground or spray feature is in use.
3701-31-04 (B)(4)(a)(ii)
Combined chlorine was not tested daily at pool side prior to use.
Test for combined chlorine prior to bathers entering the water and every 4 hours the pool is open for use. If ACC is in use combined chlorine must be tested every 12 hours while the pool is in use. For spraygrounds and spray features, the combined chlorine must be tested at 1 spray feature every 6 hours the sprayground or spray feature is in use.
3701-31-04 (B)(4)(a)(iii)
pH was not tested daily at pool side and/or at required intervals for pools/automatic chemical controllers/special features.
pH must be tested prior to bathers entering the water and every 4 hours the pool is open for use. If ACC is in use pH must be tested every 12 hours while the pool is in use. For spraygrounds and spray features, the pH must be tested at 1 special feature every 6 hours the sprayground or spray feature is in use.
3701-31-04 (C)(2)
pH was outside the range of 7.2 to 7.8.
Treat the pool water so that the pH is within the acceptable range.
3701-31-04 (C)(3)
Total alkalinity was less than 60 ppm.
Raise the total alkalinity to at least 60 ppm.
3701-31-04 (D)(7)(d)
Critical Flow or pressure switch for a shut off valve was not provided or the unit was not tested monthly
Have the ACC unit serviced or replaced with a unit that has a flow or pressure switch with an automatic shut off valve. Provide records indicating that the unit is being tested monthly.
Comments
It appears that testing is not being done correctly at this licensed pool. No testing has been done yet today (5/14/19). Numbers and values are being documented on the records (prior to today) found in the pool equipment room, but the numbers appear to be the same for every test and the same day after day. The values documented are very different (besides pool temperature) from the values I received today during the inspection. The reagants found in the pool equipment room are near full, indicating lack of use, especially since the records indicate that this pool is being test 4 times a day. Values are not being documented correctly on the form - a value is being placed in the "bromine" column when bromine is not being used in this pool.

A new pool record form was provided to be used as a master copy for accurate testing.
