| Chemical feeder pumps should not be mounted above other chemical feeder pumps or chemical containers to prevent possible mixing of chemicals and producing toxic gas. If chlorine is mixed with muriatic acid chlorine gas is formed, which can lead to severe injuries and fatalities (SIFs) to exposed individuals. Keep documentation of the ASSE 1013 backflow preventer’s annual inspection available at the pool facility for review by the health department. Keep the chemicals’ Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in the equipment room and have Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as chemical gloves and goggles available for handling chemicals. |
