[?] A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.

3701-31-04 (D)(05) / Cyanuric acid level shall not exceed 70 ppm.
Cyanuric acid level exceeded 70 ppm. Observed the cyanuric acid to be >100pm. DRAIN SOME OF THE POOL AND REFILL TO DILUTE THE CYANURIC ACID.
Drain the pool at least halfway and fill with clean water. Monitor the amount of cyanuric acid being used and adjust accordingly. Correct By: 17-Jul-2023
3701-31-04 (D)(8)(c) / Test kit reagents fresh/ properly stored.
Test kit reagents were not fresh or stored properly. -Observed there was no reagent to test for cyanuric acid. -OBTAIN THE CYANURIC ACID REAGENT.
Obtain fresh reagents and store them properly. Correct By: 13-Jul-2023

Inspection Information

Facility Type: Pool

[?] Inspection Type: Standard

Inspection Date: 11-July-2023

Comments
The main drain covers do not have a certificate of compliance, and the installation date is not known. The main drain covers are to be replaced after the end of the season if the operator cannot provide documentation of the make/model and installation date of the main drain covers. If they are replaced, keep the certificate of compliance with the installation date on file for review during inspections.

When using CYA (cyanuric acid) the alkalinity level is calculated by subtracting 1/3 the CYA level from the alkalinity reading. EXAMPLE: alkalinity test reading = 70 ppm, CYA = 60 ppm. Alkalinity is 70 ppm – (60/3) = 50 ppm

The pool is drained into a nearby retention pond. Per the Ohio EPA, the water is to have 0 ppm chlorine when it is drained. Test the chlorine level prior to draining. If needed, sodium thiosulfate can be used to remove chlorine quickly from the water. When the filters are cleaned, they are to be cleaned in an area that drains to a sanitary sewer.

Discussed other options for disinfectants. If sodium hypochlorite is used, a new disinfection pump will need to be installed. This will require an equipment replacement notification form, as it is a significant change to the system.
