Comments
Received a complaint call about Residence Inn indoor pool. The complainant explains that they had to take their children to the emergency room to have skin burns treated.
-I arrived at the site and checked the chemical room out. There were no issues in the chemical room. The maintenance person informed me that chlorine pump is not functioning and there is no ORP controller to monitor the chemicals. I asked the maintenance personal to show me how he is testing the water.
-I tested the pool chemistry and determined that the PH of the water is above 8.
-I also tested the chlorine of the swimming pool and could not get a satisfactory reading. Free chlorine and total chlorine are greater than 36ppm. The maximum combined chlorine level shall not exceed 1.0 ppm and minimum free chlorine residual shall be 1.0 ppm.
-Chlorine disinfectant is too high in the pool at this time and should not be open to the public until the chlorine pump is replaced and or repaired. Also recommend that members attend training on how to maintain proper water quality standards per 3701.31 (1),(e), (3), (i, ii, iii, vi).
-Recommend a licensed pool company access the components of the pool and repair as needed.
-Highly recommend pool operator training for assigned staff.
-Recommend pool remain closed until all items are corrected and the a final inspection from the health department.
