Received notification from Health Department Communicable Disease nurse that an individual who had tested positive for Cryptosporidium had swam in the Fort Recovery pool on June 27th. There is a slight chance that the individual could have been infectious at the time of swimming, so therefore we are recommending that the water's chlorine level be raised to 40 ppm for 8.5 hours in accordance with CDC recommendations. I emailed a guidance document explaining the procedure. This could be performed late afternoon / early evening and left overnight to disinfect, then in the morning the water could be de-chlorinated in preparation for the next day.
I spoke with Randy Diller, Village Administrator, who confirmed that this process would be performed.
