Violations: A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
3701-31-04 (B)(1)(l)
Critical At the time of inspection, the operator was unable to indicate the underwater light was connected to a ground fault circuit interceptor.
Upon making the operator aware of this, the light was disconnected from a power source and the underwater light was scheduled to be replaced. Operator also stated, if needed, hours would be adjusted to ensure bottom of pool is visible.
3701-31-04 (B)(4)(a)(i)
Repeat According to the records provided, the free chlorine was observed being tested once a day. Also, according to the records provided, on certain days the free chlorine was observed being tested after opening.
To ensure the free chlorine is at or above 1.0 ppm, the free chlorine shall be tested prior to opening and every 4 hours.
3701-31-04 (B)(4)(a)(iii)
Repeat According to records provided at the time of inspection, the pH was observed being tested once a day. Also, according to the records provided, on certain days, the pH was observed tested after opening.
To ensure proper pH levels, the pH shall be tested prior to opening and every 4 hours.
3701-31-04 (D)(02)
Critical Repeat Upon discussing with operator, on a routine basis, tri-chloro disinfection pucks were being placed in skimmers.
Disinfection system shall continuously feed the circulation system to ensure proper free chlorine. Cease the placing of tri-chloro disinfectant into skimmers. If the increasing of free chlorine is needed, increase through the chlorine generator. If hyperchlorination is needed, close the pool and along the edges of the pool, dispense chlorine into the pool until the proper level is reached.
3701-31-04 (E)(2)(e)
Repeat At the time of inspection, the emergency telephone was observed in disrepair.
To ensure authorities are able to be connected during an emergency, a functional emergency telephone shall be provided. Upon making the operator aware of this, an emergency telephone was ordered.
3701-31-04(D)(6)(a)(1)
Repeat At the time of inspection, the combined chlorine was observed at 1.2 ppm.
the combined chlorine shall be at or below 1.0 ppm. Hyperchlorinate (shock) the pool to 12 ppm to reduce the combine chlorine. When hyperchlorinating the pool, ensure the pool is closed.
Comments
- Ensure any openings or gaps along the edges of the pool or on the deck are sealed.
- Place an end cap on the bottom of the ladder.

- At the time of inspection, the operator was unable to test the underwater light GFCI (see violation). Upon making the operator aware of this, the underwater light was disconnected from power source. According to operator, a new light is scheduled to installed. When installed, contact the health department (Jason Dreier at 937-573-3539 or jdreier@miamicountyhealth.net) for a reinspection.
