The Environmental Health Consortium (EHC) agreement was entered into by and between the municipal health departments of Cudahy, South Milwaukee, and St. Francis in 2002 to provide an Environmental Health Program for the participating municipalities.  The cities of Cudahy, South Milwaukee and St. Francis encompasses approximately 12 square miles in Milwaukee County, is home to approximately 48,800 residents, and currently has 271 licensed establishments that are inspected on an annual basis by an Environmental Health Specialist (EHS).

The main role of the program is to license and inspect local establishments as an agent of the State for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. The EHS enforces applicable local municipal ordinances and state administrative codes during the inspection and licensure of programs such as retail food establishments, restaurants, hotels, public swimming pools and tattoo and body piercing establishments within the EHC.

The EHC staff consists of one Program Assistant, and two Environmental Health Specialists (EHSs) that are State of Wisconsin Registered Sanitarians. Staffing for this program is equal to 1.5 full time equivalent employees.  The EHS works with establishment owners and managers to ensure that their facilities are being managed in a code approved and sanitary manner to protect the health of the general public. The Program Assistant is responsible for overall processing of paperwork produced from the day to day operations which include inspection reports generated by the EHSs and completing reports.

Keep in mind that the inspection reports that you are about to review are a “snapshot” of conditions found on the date and time of the inspection.  An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long term operation of the facility.  Please feel free to contact an Environmental Health Specialist at (414) 768-8055 if you have any questions regarding an inspection report.

Visitors to this site are cautioned against interpreting the status of a particular facility based on only one report.  While every effort is made to keep the information up-to-date and ensure that it is accurate, the EHC is not responsible for discrepancies between information posted here and the actual inspection reports provided to the licensed establishment.

The following pages will go into detail and provide a complete overview of the programs licensed and inspected by the Environmental Health Specialists.  Note: The only program available to be viewed at this time is the Food Inspection Program. The hotel, public swimming pool and tattoo and body piercing establishment pages are currently under development and will be made available in the future.
