Environmental Health program staff of the Clallam Health Department are responsible for conducting inspections at food establishments. These inspections help protect the consumer from risks that could lead to foodborne illnesses. Inspected establishments include restaurants, bars, grocery stores, convenience stores, schools, hospitals as well as food sold at temporary events. The frequency of inspections is determined by the types of foods served, number of customers served and past inspection compliance history. It is important to note that inspection results are a reflection of what the inspector observed at the time of the inspection. Facilities that fail an inspection receive a follow-up inspection within a short period of time to check on the correction of the deficient items.
