Portage County Health & Human Services (PCHHS) – Division of Public Health is responsible for providing public health services to communities in Portage County. Our mission is to promote the health, safety and well-being of Portage County residents and visitors.

PCHHS – Division of Public Health serves as an agent for Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) to provide licensing and regulation of every public restaurant, food establishment, swimming pool, campground, recreational education camp, lodging establishment, retail food establishment, vending machine, body art establishment and manufactured home community.

The goals of the program:

  • Promote public health to prevent and control exposure to food-borne, water-borne, blood-borne, or recreational hazards.
  • Reduce exposure to environmental and safety hazards in licensed facilities.
  • Promote the well-being of Portage County residents and visitors.
