Food Establishment and Restaurant Reports

Ashland County Public Health is responsible for inspecting and licensing almost 100 food establishments in our county, including the City of Ashland and the communities of LaPointe, on Madeline Island, Mellen, Glidden, Butternut, and Clam Lake. Food establishment inspectors work closely with the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection to ensure the state’s Food Code is adhered to.

These inspections are a snapshot of the daily operations of these establishments, and can often vary. The public health department works with businesses to ensure owners and operators have a working understanding of the needs to protect the public’s health, and ensure consumer safety. The environmental health staff also provides other important program services including licensing/inspecting lodging establishments, campgrounds, public pools, tattoo establishments, and beach testing, community and private well testing, and human health hazard investigations.
